An orthopaedic surgeon and bird lover

By Priyanka Grover

On 16th Feb, Dr. Satyasheel Naik, who is an Orthopaedic surgeon, took out time from his very busy schedule and gave a very interesting talk on his experiences of treating the birds. He started as a bird lover and now he spends treating them at his clinic along with the human patients. He has treated very bad fractures of some big birds with remarkable success. He showed us different slides in which x-rays of birds’ legs before and after the operation were shown. It was amazing to see that. I haven’t had the experience of seeing a human fracture coming back to normal after the operation but had this rare opportunity to see a bird’. Another interesting fact he told is that birds majorly suffer by Arthritis which is becoming such a common disease in human beings. He also has lot of bird homes at his place where lots of birds come and breed. He is an avid collector of antiques and artifacts and also of cars. A person having lot of interests.

    Hello Dr. Frank Pedlow,

Thanks for visitng my blog. I am happy to note you are pursuing your interest in birds despite being in a very busy profession. Our friends, the migratory birds have already started arriving in India, this year they have come early, mostly because of the climate changes. I am looking forward to having a great time in coming few months.

    regards,
    Priyanka.
